Shades

Spring is almost upon us and I'm already selecting and putting together my summer wardrobe. For the Past 2 summers everyone has been opting for RayBan's. The majority however maybe wearing fakes but after breaking my first pair really couldn't justify buying another!
German Graphic Designer Sebastian Onufszak has designed the new ad's for the coming season. Its a move away from simplistic models wearing shades, to a hyper world! Onufszak has also worked with the likes of L'Oreal, MTV and Nike. I'm just intrigued if this new advertising look will alter our preference in shades for the coming summer will just have to wait and see!

Whats with Armani and the Beckham's????

I could not quiet believe it when i came across the new Empirio Armani campaign. What is it with the Beckhams -first Beck's now Posh??? For £12m Victoria Beckham has become the new face shot by celebrated fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Cant decide which campaign i prefer?- Ok I am not a Beck's fan at all!!- but that campaign couldn't help you stop and stare and think... gotta be a sock!

Victoria's pictures are amazing- but i think i am more in shock of her amazing figure. How many times have we all read an interview with her complaining about her stomach and thighs. When have we ever seen her so naked like this before! She always cleverly sporting an all in one on the beach or kaftan! Personally i think she has had a little help from the airbrushing team!

Alexander Shulman Uk Vogue editor in (Long, 2008 p.14)- ‘We are not in the business of portraying reality all the time and people buy magazines like Vogue in order to look at a kind of perfection.’… ‘If u don’t like retouching you should also not like makeup. (Long, 2008 p.14)

Think this quote just sums it up today- i think if after 3 kids the only help we are all gonna get to look this good when we are older if help from the re-touch team! - or just dont have kids!!!!!!

Brunets actually have more fun!!!

Im actually enjoying my new look and what ever people say.... brunets def have more fun. Feeling like i am being more experimental putting things together and in a way i would not approach being white blonde- in case it clashed or just looked to OTT. Trying to look at style icons with similar coloring's, helps to see what suits. Debbie Harry may no longer be the one i turn to in the matter of need, but no matter what color my hair Daphne Guinness is my ultimate style icon to stay! strong, intelligent, glamorous women who is a great fashion stylist and film producer, and also a member of the Guinness brewing family. Known for her elegant and original dress sense and love for couture...

glamandtonic.blogspot.com also admires Daphnes Style!

So, to sum up what I've learned from Daphne:
Instead of buying new stuff all the time and chasing all the latest trends, spend money on classic, versatile clothes with a great cut. It's better to have one pair of fantastic pants instead of ten you never wear.

Why shouldn't you be able to wear whatever you want any time of day? I think people focus too much on what they are supposed to wear and what's "appropriate". Just because you're going shopping doesn't mean you can't wear the gorgeous new dress you just bought. Put it on and dress it down with a casual cardigan etc.

Maybe it would be fun to attempt creating your own jewelry? Or D.I.Y something to put your own personal stamp on it... maybe not armour, but something else?

Glamandtonic.blogspot.com also put together great outfit ideas to imitate her look.

Spring is upon us... this ultimately means added extras to the wardrobe!!! Been updating my wish list from Net-a-porter of the latest pieces bought in!!!- From recently going dark red, i have been suprised just how much its impacted my taste. For now i am loving being dark- in my head feel more european chic.... reality is another matter- but i am sure with the following wish list it would help!
McQueen Stripped Column Dress, Philip Lim Ruffle Front Skirt Dress, Clements Riberio sweater,Ronald Mouret Trenet Dress and Halston Long Cowl Dress

The Outcome of the Collard Manson Photoshoot.

... From the New Year each Platform issue I am going to be putting together phootshoots working with Trent Faces and Talent, but also work with Nottingham’s High Street to create partnerships and support. For the first shoot worked with the new boutique Collard Manson which has recently expanded from Sheffield and opened its doors here in Nottingham. The boutique is defiantly one of the most welcoming and enticing boutiques outside London, with the feel like your in more in someone's bedroom.

Manager Kate Uzzell lists points of inspiration for the store including Cyndi Lauper, St Petersburg, Gaudi, Vivienne Westwood, MIA, Audrey Hepburn, Edward Hopper, New Delhi, and it goes on..... A mix you would not necessarily put together put some how its really works. Marion Cotillard was named as the main style icon fas an idealistic women they would dress.

Antique French Chandeliers hang from the ceiling, and clothing and jewels are displayed in magnificent wardrobes and display cabinets. Selling every day items such as jewelry , chocolate, stationary and clothing. But chocolate wrapped in vintage looking crystal covered wrapping and at the cost of £10 for one bar- just demonstrates that extra special product offering that Collard Manson brings.

Brands Stocked
Arrogant Cat, Day Birger et Mikkelson, Moloko, Studio Rundholtz, Mawi, Dimitriadis,Tatty Devine, Rings Eclectic, Michal Negrin, Les Cakes de Bertrand,Johnny loves Rosie, Becksondergaard and more unique brands are offered within. They even stock their own beautifully crafted bags and purses.

Photoshoot
When it came to the photoshoot it was quiet obvious that wanted to bring an unusual edge. Main point of inspiration was taken from the photoshoot within Italian Vogue September 2008 issue. Socialite Daphne Guinness is photographed by legionary photographer Steven Klein who captures a representation of couture with a modern feel. A look we tried to undertake and reconstruct. Further inspiration for the shoot was also taken from key clothing items from Dolce and Gabbana Feather and silk tulle dress and the Queen Dress designed by Giles as well as head dresses designed by Louis Vuitton in 2008.

Muse Cong Fashion design Student from Trent provided to be the perfect model for the shoot. Her petit features and perfect skin provided a great contrast. If you feel you have a unique and distinctive look, and would like to model for up and coming Fashion shoots please get in touch- We also are seeking talented photography students and even clothing if you wish to showcase your talents in a printed publication.
